FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is a scramble format?

A. All players hit an individual ball, but then the team chooses the best hit ball for the location to play their next shot from. This continues for every shot, including putts. This can results in some pretty good scores for the team. Often times there is a requirement that the team uses each of the players drives once or twice.

Q. What precautions are being taken for public health and Covid 19?
A. There will be not group gatherings due to the ongoing health crisis. Tee times will be assigned 8 to 10 minutes apart. All surfaces will be sanitized and there will be minimal activity indoors. Players are encouraged to follow health guidelines and to bring their own sanitizer and facemarks. There will be no large lunch gathering or rewards ceremony. Boxed lunches will be provided at the end of the event, and prizes credited to shop winnings or posted at the clubhouse will-call.

Q. How do sponsorships work?

A. Your business can either sponsor a team by paying their registration fees, or you can buy one of the event day sponsorships that don’t include a team registration fee, but do include other things such as a sign on a tee box, a business logo on golf balls, or greens flag, etc. Or you can donate prizes for the raffle drawing or silent auction. Or you can donate cash in any amount that will go directly to the beneficiaries of the fundraiser. Download the sponsor packages here. All sponsorships include logo branding on the event marketing materials.

Q. Do sponsorship packages include a team registration?

A. No, except for the gold and silver sponsors, otherwise they are sold separately. If your company wants to sponsor a team of four by paying their registration fees, we will include the company logo on printed and digital marketing materials. But to receive the extra sponsor perks, such as signs on the tee box, a separate sponsor package must be purchased. The goal of sponsorships is to help supplement expenses so we can donate as much as possible to the fundraiser.
Q. What does Tee Handicapping mean?

A. It means you change the color of tee you start from on each hole, depending on how well you played the previous hole. Thus creating a handicap method during the tournament to level out the playing abilities slightly. Like most handicapping methods, it is not perfect, but it can add some interest and fairness to the event.

Q. Do I have to pay and register all members of my foursome at the same time?

A. Yes, we are requiring full team pre-payment and registration in order to reserve your spot in the tournament. There will be no standby list.

Q. How do I get my tee time assignment?

A. Teams will be assigned tee times by the committee six days prior to the event. These will be emailed to players and posted at the Crane Field clubhouse. If you have special requests, we will do our best to accommodate on a first come, first serve basis.

Q. How do we see the event results?

A. Because tee times are consecutive, there may be a few hours between the first and last teams. Because of this the scoring will be done in the afternoon and first draft will be sent to players by email. After the comment period, results will be finalized and re-sent by email, posted online, on facebook, and in the golf shop.

Q. How do I claim my team winnings?

A. If you were a member of a winning team, you will be give shop credit in the form of gift cards or account credit pegged to your name, email and phone number. If we do not have the full information of the team, all winnings will be credited to the team captain. If you were the winner of a raffle prize, auction item, or other merchandise, it will be available to pick up at will-call at the clubhouse after 4pm on the day of the event, or you are free to pick it up during business hours the following thirty days.

Q. Do I need to pay a tip during the registration process?

A. It’s optional, you can de-select the tip option in the upper left during the registration checkout. The event does not get any of the tips sent to betterworl.org, but it does get the credit card transaction tips. If you want to leave a cash tip for the event, follow this link instead. https://alandfound.betterworld.org/campaigns/friends-wsu

Q. Are team registration and other donations tax deductible?

A. Yes, we can provide a donation receipt through our 501(c)(3) charity organization upon request. This includes team registrations and all the add-ons, and online contests such as the raffle giveaways and silent auction.
